“People Who Help People”

The Recovery Oriented Systems of Care is a Texas Rehabilitation Initiative established in 2010 by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
The Galveston County ROSC is one of many in Texas. In the last few years, since the pandemic, it has grown exponentially greater than it could have ever imagined…

We are “People Who Help People”
By offering resources, treatment, or services to individuals—whether women, men, youth, children, seniors, or veterans—and if your work or volunteer efforts are focused on individualized wellness or community wellness through education, prevention, and awareness, you are fostering recovery.
This approach requires open-mindedness and a willingness to practice unity with other community health stakeholders, including health providers, prevention specialists, educators, law enforcement, and community and faith leaders. Whether working with individuals or groups of any age, the ability to connect with others and see the bigger picture—that any improvement in life is a form of recovery—is key to making a positive impact.

February Food Pantry Need
Help Us Stock Peanut Butter
At His Ministries, our mission is to serve our community with compassion, dignity, and love. Through our food pantry and outreach programs, we are able to help families in need, because of supporters like you.
This month, we are focusing on February’s need: Peanut Butter; a nutritious, shelf-stable staple that helps families stretch their meals and stay nourished.
We’ve organized our most-needed items by month to make giving simple and impactful. Each month focuses on specific essentials, from hygiene items and household supplies to food and winter warmth. Your generosity helps ensure that no family has to choose between basic necessities and survival.
Here are a few ways you can help this February:
• Donate peanut butter
• Organize a small drive with friends, coworkers, or church groups
• Share this opportunity with others who may want to give
• Pray for the families and individuals we serve
Every donation, large or small, makes a meaningful difference. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Christ to those in need.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.”
Proverbs 19:17
Thank you for standing with us and helping spread hope throughout our community.
With gratitude and blessings,
His Ministries Team

Love on the Community in Unity!

- Every individual in the community has an interest in what is known as recovery capital, which affects the overall quality of life.
- Our “Wellness Initiatives” promote collaboration between organizations and communities to cultivate a supportive and curative environment.
- ROSC of Galveston County is dedicated to fostering wellness across all facets of life for every individual in our community, irrespective of age, gender, or background. We acknowledge and attend to the interconnected dimensions of health, including physical, mental, spiritual, financial, emotional, environmental, occupational, social, and intellectual aspects. Through inclusive and comprehensive initiatives we aim to empower communities and their stakeholders to lead the community they serve to fulfill lives and contribute positively to society.
- Implementing a Recovery-Oriented System of Care (ROSC) framework across areas and our region while ensuring that communities and systems deliver high-quality, evidence-supported services based on a recovery orientation.
- The state’s opioid crisis has proven that recovery-oriented responses are more effective than traditional crisis-management approaches.
- We are moving fast, away from just stabilizing people and helping them initiate their recovery process.
- Recovery-oriented and Recovery Management approaches, in contrast, expand attention to include prevention and early intervention.

It just keeps getting better….

We have a seat waiting for you! See you on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month!
Are you passionate about community development and growth?

Prevention, Education, Awareness, Strategic Planning, Education, Law Enforcement or Care, Safety and Judicial Systems, Spiritual, Mental, and Physical Health Providers, Organizations, for-profit or non-profit, and Community Service Providers: Stakeholders that make up your community
We all collaborate to provide solutions for Galveston County and beyond, and expand throughout the surrounding areas!
Feel free to invite someone or bring someone to our 3rd Tuesday meeting! Bring your cards and pamphlets to share resources and build relationships within your community!
We have so much to cover in a short time, which is exactly why we are also using the Signal App to keep sharing information between monthly meetings.
There will always be introductions and a chance to shine and tell us what you do and who you serve. We do this every month. Unity in Community Matters.

Big Texas Recovery Rally is a MOVEMENT!
HOPE is real! RECOVERY is real! As Clay would say, “ALL GLORY TO GOD”. We celebrate Recovery throughout the year but a statewide celebration is the greatest event of the year!!!
Join us and experience the power of unity.
The “Big Texas Recovery Rally” is coming back again to Galveston County and surrounding areas, and our neighboring counties are invited to celebrate Recovery Month with us again in September 2025.
The first annual Galveston County Recovery Rally in 2023, which was marked as #GCRR2023, was a massive success.
We were thrilled to announce that in 2024, the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) in Galveston County was officially made an affiliate of the Big Texas Recovery Rally.
The 2023 and 2024 rallies were powerful reminders of the resilience and unwavering spirit — a community that, even in the face of unexpected challenges, came together to celebrate the achievements of hundreds who found purpose and thrived.
This year, under the theme “Empowerment Through Connection,” we continue that legacy by highlighting the strength we gain when we unite, uplift one another, and move forward together
“Year after year the rallies provide an opportunity for recovery communities from all over Texas to unite and pay tribute to those who have successfully battled through mental health disorders and substance use disorders.
But they are doing more than just thriving — they are carrying a message. Their lives speak loudly to the communities they live in, declaring that change is possible, that purpose is real, and that no one is too far gone to begin again. To those still searching for a way out, their stories are living proof that freedom, healing, and hope are within reach.
This year’s theme, “Empowerment Through Connection,” reminds us that through unity, shared experiences, and genuine support, we don’t just overcome — we rise together, bringing others with us
We are known for celebrating UNITY IN COMMUNITY! This event will always bring together people who have chosen to live purpose-driven lives and have received treatment and services to support their journey towards long-term recovery.

Bridging the gap between faith leaders, mental health and substance use disorder professionals, sober living organizations and the community.

One of the ROSC 2024 goals was to go out and support “People Who Help People”. We were asked to speak with some of our dearest friends and partners:
CPS Court of Galveston County Brown Bag invited ROSC & NSE and received NARCAN Education. We met with CPS statewide and were able to talk about ROSC & NSE by way of the Faith-Based Community Engagement Department. 106 CPS employees learned what a ROSC is and had Narcan Education through NSE.
We were invited to speak at MICSA (Multi-Intercultural Agency Against Sexual Assault) at Friendswood Police Department. Alvin Police Department also was present and learned about the ROSC that day.

ANYONE can become a “SATURATOR”
Hope Drug Court Alumni and Sober Living celebration was sponsored by the ROSC of Galveston County, TROHN, Open Door Mission, and Justice Forward. It was a day of Live Music and Alumni Speakers, “New Beginnings”. Recovery Picnic in the Park was a great experience for all involved and packed full with sober fun and fellowship.
In May 2024. Galveston County officials declared May as National Treatment Court Month. #TreatmentCourtMonth
